Debate helps the students in gaining broad, multi-faceted knowledge cutting across various disciplines outside their subjects. It helps forming critical thinking skills, increased retention of information, speech delivery, etc.

Topic for the Competition

Topic 1: Digital Learning: A Pleasure or Disappointment 

Topic 2: Usage of Mobile Phones by College Students: A Boon or Bane

Topic 3: Life after COVID-19: Full of Opportunities or Challenges


The competition is open to all students/ researchers enrolled in higher educational institutions (UG, PG, M.Phil, Ph.D. and Post Doc) in any colleges/ universities in India. Open and distance learning students are also eligible to participate

Important Dates

Last Date for Registration: 07th July, 2020 (Upto 10:59PM)

Date of the Competition: 21st June to 07th July, 2020 (Upto 11:59PM)


  • The participant should be registered at least 01 Hour before the competition i.e. 07th July, 2020 (Upto 10:59PM)
  • Three topics for the debate competition are mentioned above and the participants to choose one of the topics for debate
  • The participant should make a 4 minutes video on the topic of their choice. Out of which 2 minutes should be for the topic and 2 minutes against the topic
  • The entry should be appropriate at college level. They should not violate any rules of India and should not be indecent, offensive, hateful, defamatory and unsuitable for public display and publication
  • Clear video showing the participant with clear audio should be uploaded in their YouTube page and submit the URL in the P N Panicker National Reading Mission mobile app using the Username and Password provided at the time of registration
  • The entries will be evaluated based on the organization & clarity, use of facts/ arguments for and against the topic, presentation style, and quality of video and audio
  • Judge’s decision will be final

Entry Fee



  • eCertificate of Participation to all the Participants, who submit their entry
  • The first and second prizes will be awarded according to the regions of India or state-wise depending on the entries
